Our Story…
Two Hobbits embarked on a musical adventure, and found themselves doing, playing and singing things altogether unexpected…
It all started in the winter of 2010 when a pair of 5’3” singing pianists, the classically trained Shannon “Shamwise” Bengford and the jazz pianist Nick “The Doctor” Schlueter decided to venture into a dueling piano bar to check it out. They had been performing together onstage on a Worship Arts team at Grace Church in Maryland Heights, MO for a number of years. The pair complimented each other musically onstage, and their friendship was obvious in the way they enjoyed performing together. They quickly became known as “The Dueling Hobbits.” After years of performing together, their unique dueling style was evident. The hilarious pair were truly dueling with vocal trade-offs, harmonizing and some serious shredding on the keys. The Hobbits began to create a following. By 2014, they had developed a vision for Dueling Hobbits Productions and began building their brand of dueling pianos.
